Amanda building for success
Unemployed Amanda Brooks, aged 53 is working towards a career in large construction. Amanda had previous experience in this industry and her dream is to become a Site Supervisor.
Amanda registered for support from Workways+. Workways+ provided Amanda with a mentor to help her develop her employability skills and form a plan of how she can achieve her employment aspirations.
Judy, Amanda’s mentor identified that her lack of qualifications was a challenge to gaining employment. Judy searched for an appropriate supervisor training qualification and Workways+ funded it. Judy was able to support Amanda through telephone contact and sharing apps.
Amanda said “Breaking into a male-dominated sector like large construction is a challenge, particularly as a supervisor. Workways+ found a supervisor’s course for me in January 2021 and they funded all the costs. I passed the course and Workways+ are now helping me take those next steps to my dream job”.
